Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

Old Fools Journal: Whittling More Stuff or what can I do for my sprouts?

At 1600 hours my bean sprout jar slid down into the sink one more time and I'd had enough of that. I went to my stock pile of raw material (the burn pile) hoping that something would come to me and it did. I found this stick that looked like it had a sprout jar stand inside it. At 1700 hours I had uncovered it.
A rub down with my secret sauce (beeswax, carnauba wax and orange oil) and it was ready for work.
It assumed the position at the back of the sink being humped by a jar of mung bean sprouts.
I love wood and I especially love things made from the natural shapes of wood. Just the feel of it when it is being work is very satisfying and the curves, textures and color are pure joy.

I hope it's clear I really love wood.

These sprouts were started two days ago.

Looks like that twig was made for that purpose.

Do you ever get so excited when reading someone's blog post you find yourself reading faster and faster and the whole time you feel like a 5 year old because your saying to yourself "Me too! Me too!"? I too love wood. I love things made of wood. I love the smell of wood (especially cedar). I like to collect wood, telling Brian that ‘someday’ I will make something with it. I started whittling a branch from the back yard a few months back but set it down and haven't touched it since. This post has inspired me though. Also, I grew sprouts for the first time this past summer. Radish sprouts. They were spicy and delicious. It's fun reading posts from people who have similar interests as me. I guess that’s the whole point of following blogs right? Good job on the sprout jar stand. It looks great! Monica

The twig was made for that purpose. I wonder why I didn't see it earlier and what else is out there that I don't see?

Monica: Me too! It happened again last night watching "Playing For Change" and then "PS22". I did it for chest calming therapy and it worked. Those kids at ps22 just blow me away.

Now I'm going to put on my "Don" eyeglasses and go out and really look at my woodpile.

Well done, Richard!

Sprouts are a great source of nutrition for all, especially for a vegetarian like me. So glad to note that you like them too!

Have you tried sprouting Crowder Peas? They can be a bit overpowering in smell but they are also nutritious. Spiced appropriately Crowder Peas can be delicious.

Peace :)
