Old Fools Journal: Still Life

Morning Sun
While making coffee this morning I turned and saw this
in my little galley. It's not a bad way to start the day.

Everyday we are surrounded by beautiful
pictures if we will only see them.

My thoughts are
dark, dreary and full of foreboding
and I need to heal myself.

Probably because of my paying attention
to current events.  That stops today.

Years ago when reading someone (I think it was Thoreau) the
point was made that it did not matter whether we knew
anything about what was happening in the rest of the
world or not. It was going to happen regardless
and only served to make us more unhappy than usual.

So I'm listening to music from a more enlightened time
when in retrospect the dumbest dope head appeared
smarter and wiser than those who would lead now.
When I press the send button I'm going out in
the heat to confer with the kittens and the
puppy who know what is really important.

Meanwhile enjoy the photo of a moment
that made me extremely happy.

Lovely!!!If we know how to look those beautiful moments are everywhere. You're right about kittens and puppies -so much more productive to be with them than hearing the news.

It takes an artist, or a photographer, or a wise old fart like us to recognize all the beauty that is always around us.

A jasmine tea toast to the morning sun, may it rise upon you for many many days to come.

I think Thoreau said something about the uselessness of the telegraph, how he had heard of a murder once when he was a boy, and never needed to hear of another murder again.

Smart guy.

Great photo.

Wonderful picture. I haven't watched tv or read a newspaper in several months (oh, the horror of being a bad citizen) and I find my life, my outlook and my digestion are much improved. Enjoy your day. Read some good books, watch nature or take a nap (or all of the above).

Nice way to start the day amigo.

The cats will tell it to you straight. But mine suggest retaining healthy disbelief about anything the dogs have to say.

Hope your day's a good one.

People tend to say good is good. But when driving they say there is 'defensive driving' which mean... you get the ideas?
