The reason for my holding on to it and wanting to keep it in sight is that it was in my hand during an afternoon in the sun of smoking and wine drinking aboard the good ship "Serenity". Both were being done for effect and not for taste. I picked up that glass looked at it and in a flash of blinding white light it came to me that I was a thief. I tried to justify it by thinking that I was just augmenting my pay but since I was payed an exorbitant amount that was far more than I was worth that justification piddled out after awhile. A really short while. In fact, even though I had not taken it from a person but from a corporation which everyone (well almost everyone) knows is not a person it still was taken without asking. I was no better than a common thief. I thought then of a few other piddly ass things I had taken in my life and came to the conclusion that I was a repeat offender. Thereafter that glass remind me everyday that I was not the hotshot I thought I was. I was disappointed in me.
Having that in my head doesn't pay back but it does make me reluctant to take things that are not mine. I said reluctant because I ain't dead yet but I have not taken anything since the "The Great Wine Glass Revelation".
So it is still within my sight everyday reminding me to be good.
What did learn? I learned that one should not think when using mind altering drugs.

Great post, but you didn't explain the fly.
Ah yes the fly...It is a fairly realistic giant plastic one made for Halloween I seem to remember. I have it sitting around in various disgusting places to freak people out. At least I did when I had the occasional visitor.
Sounds like a great time aboard the good ship "Serenity".
Thanks for the post!!
I have also been guilty of relieving an airline corporation of one of their assets. Guess that makes me a common thief also.
But, it's lucky I did it back then, for now they only use plastic vessels.
Stealing is wrong. Did you score any silverware?
Something interesting I read in a book awhile back about the subject of stealing......in nature, there is no such thing as recognized stealing. Any animal simply takes what he can and there is no court of law or police to call. Some animals, like bears, are just scavengers.....they can smell blood from a mile away and easily take anything that other animals have worked hard to bring down. Anyway, not meaning to justify stealing, just bring insight into why it is so spontaneous to us. It's culture and society that defines it as wrong. We never need to make laws to make people do what is natural to them; instead laws are made to control what is natural. Always an uphill battle.
I enjoyed your reflections on what this glass has meant to you. Reminds me of similiar experiences in my own life. Hope you have a great day.
Hey there. Its good to 'hear' that your arm is better. It is isnt it?
Is anyone else not able to see your fly picture? I'm having lots of trouble with pictures in my own blogs and I understand there have been issues.
Anyone know?
I always thought that was when the best thinking was done... not great for doing but the very best for thinking...
As Anonymous said I believe we are all common thieves at sometime or other it's just natural. I would like to rise above it.
What silverware. You don't get silverware with wine.
No one has complained about the pictures but I checked what I could on my end. Here is a link.

My arm is much better but it itches like crazy. Tomorrow morning is the last of the anti-biotics and good riddance. They seem to have fixed the infection (time will tell) but they made a mess of my insides. Not a good time to have the farts.
Yes Gwen it is the best time to think and I'm going to do some thinking right now.
